- 1 garlic clove, halved
Toppings
- 1–2 large ripe tomatoes (120g)
- 120g-140g sardines in olive oil
- ½ red onion, finely sliced
- 8 pitted black olives, halved
- Handful of parsley, finely chopped
Instructions
- Toast the Bread: Toast the sourdough bread slices until golden and crisp to provide a sturdy base for the toppings.
- Rub with Garlic: Rub the toasted bread with the cut side of the garlic clove to infuse a subtle garlicky flavor.
- Grate the Tomato: Grate the ripe tomato directly over the bread slices and spread the juice and pulp evenly to create a fresh and juicy topping layer.
- Add Sardines: Place the sardines in olive oil atop the tomato layer, then drizzle a few tablespoons of the olive oil from the sardine can over each slice for extra richness.
- Garnish: Scatter the finely sliced red onion, halved black olives, and chopped parsley evenly over the sardine-topped toast for brightness and added texture.
Notes
- Use ripe, juicy tomatoes for the best flavor.
