  • Author: Hailey
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 10 servings 1x

Description

Loaded Taco Dip is a flavorful, layered appetizer perfect for parties and gatherings. Featuring creamy refried beans, seasoned ground beef, and a zesty mix of taco-seasoned sour cream and cream cheese, it’s topped with fresh veggies and melty cheese for a deliciously satisfying dip served with tortilla chips or sweet peppers.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Beans

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 16 oz refried beans
  • 3 tbsp taco seasoning (1 store-bought packet)

Dairy

  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup Mexican blend cheese (shredded)

Vegetables and Toppings

  • 4 oz lettuce (shredded)
  • 1/2 cup tomatoes (diced)
  • 1/4 cup green onions (diced)
  • 1/4 cup black olives (sliced)
  • 1/4 cup jalapeno slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat. Stir in half of the taco seasoning (1.5 tbsp) to evenly season the meat. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Bean Layer: Spread the refried beans evenly on the bottom of a 2.5-quart casserole dish to create the base layer of the dip.
  3. Mix Cream Cheese and Sour Cream: In a bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, and the remaining taco seasoning. Mix thoroughly until smooth and uniformly blended. Spread this creamy mixture over the refried bean layer evenly.
  4. Layer the Remaining Ingredients: On top of the cream cheese mixture, layer the seasoned taco meat, shredded lettuce, shredded Mexican blend cheese, diced tomatoes, green onions, black olives, and jalapeno slices if using. Arrange evenly for balanced flavor and texture.
  5. Serve or Chill: Serve the dip immediately with tortilla chips or sweet peppers for dipping. Alternatively, chill the dip in the refrigerator for up to 4 hours to allow flavors to meld before serving.

Notes

  • You can make this dip a few hours ahead and chill it to enhance flavor melding.
  • For a spicier dip, add more jalapenos or include a dash of hot sauce in the cream cheese mixture.
  • Use gluten-free tortilla chips to accommodate gluten-free diets.
  • Leftovers can be covered and refrigerated for up to 2 days; stir before serving.
