Description
Deliciously crispy croissant crackers that are perfect for snacking or serving with dips. These crackers are made by soaking croissant slices in a sweet buttery cream mixture and then baking them to golden perfection for a crunchy, flavorful treat.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Croissant Crackers
- 4 croissants
- 150ml double cream
- 3 tbsp light brown soft sugar
- 30g salted butter, melted
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Heat the oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4 and line a large baking tray with baking parchment to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Slice the croissants: Using a serrated knife, carefully slice each croissant in half lengthways into long slices approximately 1-2cm thick to create the base for the crackers.
- Prepare dipping mixture: Whisk together the double cream, light brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, and melted salted butter in a shallow dish until fully combined.
- Soak the croissant slices: Using tongs, dunk the croissant slices into the cream mixture on both sides. Gently shake off any excess liquid to avoid sogginess and arrange the slices evenly on the lined baking tray.
- Bake the croissant crackers: Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes or until the croissant slices turn golden brown and crisp.
- Cool and store: Remove the crackers from the oven and allow them to cool completely on the tray. Once cool, store them in an airtight container where they will keep fresh for up to a week.
Notes
- Ensure croissant slices are patted dry slightly after dipping to achieve maximum crispness.
- These crackers are excellent served with cheeses, dips, or enjoyed on their own as a sweet snack.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week to maintain crispness.
- You can adjust sugar quantity slightly to taste for more or less sweetness.
