Scale
Salad Ingredients
- 1 head Romaine Lettuce
- 4 slices Bacon
- 2 slices Bread
- Shaved Parmesan Cheese, to taste
- 1 Egg
Dressing Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
- 1 Lemon (juice only)
- 1 clove Garlic
- 2 Anchovy Fillets
- Nonstick Cooking Spray, as needed
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius) to prepare for baking the croutons.
- Cook the Bacon: Fry the 4 slices of bacon until they reach a nice crispy texture, then set aside to cool.
- Make Croutons: Place 2 slices of bread on a baking dish lined with baking paper, lightly coat them with nonstick cooking spray, and bake in the preheated oven for 5 minutes until crisp.
- Prepare Dressing: In a small cup or bowl, combine the mayonnaise, minced garlic clove, juice of one lemon, and finely chopped anchovy fillets. Mix well until fully incorporated.
- Assemble Salad: In a large salad bowl, tear or chop the romaine lettuce, add the baked croutons and crispy bacon pieces. Crack the raw egg over the salad, add shaved Parmesan cheese to your preference, and drizzle with the prepared dressing. Toss gently and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use fresh eggs to reduce any risk when consuming raw egg.
- The anchovies add a traditional umami flavor integral to Caesar dressing, but can be omitted for a milder taste.
- Croutons can be seasoned with garlic powder or herbs before baking for extra flavor.
- For a lighter option, use low-fat mayonnaise or substitute with Greek yogurt.
