Description

Delightfully spooky and delicious, these BOO! Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 1/4 cups creamy peanut butter, divided
  • 3 cups corn flakes cereal
  • 2 cups brown rice krispies
  • 812 ounces semi-sweet or dark chocolate, melted
  • 6 ounces white chocolate, melted
  • Candy eyes, for decorating
  • Black sprinkles, for decorating

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the corn flakes, brown rice krispies, and 1 cup of creamy peanut butter. Stir these ingredients together to coat the cereal evenly.
  3. Make the Syrup: In a pot over medium heat, combine the honey and maple syrup. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes to thicken slightly, then remove from heat.
  4. Combine & Press: Pour the hot syrup mixture into the cereal and peanut butter bowl. Stir well to thoroughly mix. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish, pressing down firmly to compact. Refrigerate for 15 minutes to set.
  5. Melt Chocolate Topping: While the base sets, melt together the semi-sweet or dark chocolate with the remaining 1/4 cup peanut butter in the microwave until smooth. Spread this chocolate mixture evenly over the chilled cereal base.
  6. Create Ghosts: Melt the white chocolate separately. Spoon small dollops (about 1 teaspoon for small ghosts, 1 tablespoon for large ghosts) spaced roughly 1 inch apart over the chocolate layer. Using a wooden skewer or the end of a thin spoon, drag the white chocolate to form ghost shapes. Imperfections add character!
  7. Decorate: Press two mini candy eyes into each white chocolate ghost. Optionally, sprinkle black sprinkles around for an eerie effect.
  8. Set and Serve: Return the pan to the refrigerator and chill for about 15 minutes to set the chocolate. Cut around the ghost shapes, creating irregular bars. Keep refrigerated until serving to maintain texture and freshness.
